There are many fantastic benefits of mulching:
Are all mulches created equal?
Definitely not! Read on to find out what makes the best mulch for your garden, and what things you need to know about free or young mulch.
When Landscapers refer to Forest Mulch, they are talking about the product that comes from residential tree removal and trimming. It comprises whatever tree workers put into chippers such as wood chips, leaves and palm trees and fronds. This is not always the best thing to put on your garden, so make sure you ask your landscaper what is in their forest mulch and if it may be harmful to your plants.
Fresh Forest Mulch
Fresh Forest Mulch contains tannins which can be harmful to juvenile plants and even mature trees. It can also absorb valuable nitrogen from your soil. This product is therefore not suitable to be spread near young plants or stressed trees and shrubs.

Aged Forest Mulch
Aged forest mulch needs to be properly aged for 3 months or even longer. In this process, tannins leach out from the mulch and unsightly leaves are turned into compost that is perfect for your garden. The end result is a product with a pleasant earthy smell, and which allows your plants to thrive!
It takes over 1 ½ loads of Fresh Mulch to make 1 load of our Aged Mulch, meaning that Aged Mulch gives you much better value for money.
